He owned and operated a full-service dental lab for over 18 years in Arizona and has been a pioneer, researcher, developer, and educator in digital dental workflows, software, and materials over the last 35 years. Meet the accomplished dental experts shaping excellence at Blueskybio. < Back Dr. Kanas, Scott DDS Dr. Scott Kanas was born and raised in Rochester Hills, Michigan. He graduated summa cum laude and was awarded his bachelor of science in Biochemistry from the University of Detroit Mercy. From there, Dr. Kanas continued on to earn his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Detroit Mercy. He graduated at the top of his dental class and was inducted into the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental honor society. Finally, he went on to specialize, where he earned his Masters of Dental Science and Certificate in Orthodontics from Rutgers School of Dental Medicine. During his senior year, he was appointed Chief resident, and he was awarded as a 2018 Eugene L. Gottlieb Journal of Clinical Orthodontics Student of the Year Finalist. In addition to his educational background, Dr. Kanas is also an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists, Michigan Dental Association and American Dental Association. This allows him to have access to conferences, seminars and orthodontic publications in order to stay up to date with his specialty. Dr. Kanas loves the orthodontic profession. The orthodontic profession allows him to change the lives of his patients by giving them confidence, a sense of attractiveness and being happier, all with a knockout smile. His primary focus is to provide quality orthodontic treatment, and to develop relationships with his patients. He has a wide range of proficiency in many cutting-edge treatment techniques such as temporary anchorage devices, soft tissue lasers, multiple functional appliances, virtual appointments and all brands of clear aligners. Away from his profession, Dr. Kanas and his wife, Malinda, love to spend time with their son, Oliver, and their three dogs, Stoick, Sven and Charlie. Growing up in Michigan, he has been an avid Detroit sports fan. You may even catch him at some home games! Cela a été paradoxal car je venais de décider de consacrer mon exercice à l’implantologie et j’ai donc immédiatement cherché à intégrer cet outil de planification à mes cas. Cela m’a amené à m’intéresser à des logiciels ouverts pour ne pas être limité dans les possibilités d’intégration. Je travaille donc, aujourd’hui, avec le logiciel Blue Sky Plan, qui permet de gérer nos cas, du plus simple au plus abouti.Moniteur de plongée et skipper de voiliers, j’ai toujours cultivé la pédagogie et le partage des connaissances.Aujourd’hui, mon activité est complétée par des chirurgies lives, conférences, cours au DU d’implantologie de Lille, pour mon plus grand plaisir, et cette formation est pour moi l’occasion d’aller au bout de cette démarche pédagogique et de partage d’expérience. After 13 years of serving Latin American communities, Dr. Virgil Mongalo has opened two non-profit corporations in Florida with the purpose of providing free dental surgical procedures such as extractions of decayed teeth, elimination of infections, bone grafting, ridge augmentation and implant placement. The new Live Implant Training Institute is located in Kissimmee, Florida and will be opening its doors in November 2022. To date 10,500 patients have received 63,720 implants donated and 2,750 USA dentists have participated in this Social-Christian-Educational program directed by Dr. Virgil Mongalo in conjunction with board certified Oral-Maxillofacial Surgeons, board certified Periodontists, board certified Prosthodontists and accredited Oral Implantologists. Dr. Tawil is the current President of AIE Advanced Implant Educators. Dr. Tawil has received his Diplomate from the International Academy of Dental Implantology as well as his fellowships with the International Congress of Oral Implantology, the Advanced Dental Implant Academy and recognition for Outstanding Achievement in dental implants from the Advanced Dental Implant Academy. He has received the President’s Service Award for his volunteer work in places such Honduras, Tijuana, Dominican Republic, China and Lima Peru. Dr. Tawil is a member of American Academy of Implant Dentistry, Academy of Osseointegration, the American Dental Association and the New York State Dental Association. He is a recognized leader in dental implant, restorative, cosmetic, and sedation dentistry throughout America. He has spent countless hours in post-graduate education on dental implants, cosmetic dentistry and reconstructive dentistry. He is credentialed as a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology (ABOI,) an Honored Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID,) and a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantology (ICOI.) He has served the AAID for 4 years culminating as the President of the Southern District. Dr. Hogan has lectured internationally on the topic of dental implants and bone reconstruction. Dr. Mennito practiced 90 minutes away in Bamberg. Their son, Sam, was born in 2007, and in 2009 he began teaching at MUSC College of Dental Medicine. At the Medical University, he found a love of teaching that has only grown stronger. Over the past 10 years, while teaching and practicing dentistry, he has done the research, patented a dental material, started a biotech company, published 17 clinical papers, and began an international speaking career focusing on dental technology and materials. He is excited to join a new group of mentors and partners at Expertise Dental, all focused on a common goal – providing the best dentistry for patients, using modern technology and techniques to make sure that patients’ oral health stays in great shape. In his own words… “People often ask me why I became a dentist. At the age of 14 I knew very little of the dental profession. During this year, two things happened that changed that. First, I got braces. I went from a kid who was self-conscious about the gaps in my teeth to a confident teen who wasn’t afraid to smile. This was quite impactful for me. Second, I learned that one of my friend’s fathers was a dentist. He started talking to me about my braces and soon I learned that he was a wealth of knowledge about teeth and smiles as well as a really cool guy. He asked if I wanted to shadow him in his clinic during the summer and I agreed. After that, I was hooked. The truth is dentistry is everything I could have asked for in a career. Challenging yet rewarding, It’s the type of career where there is always something else to learn. I love that. Who could ever get bored when you are constantly growing and discovering new technologies, new techniques and new materials? Eventually, I got to the point where I could educate others, which has its own special set of rewards. He has focused his practice around digital dentistry, particularly in the areas of Orthodontics, Implantology, and Cosmetics. Most recently, he was named the project manager of Blue Sky Bio Orthodontics. He spends much of his non-clinical hours refining digital workflows to optimize treatment outcomes and efficiency.
